"Twilight" Sequels to be Released Every Year

"Twilight" Sequels to be Released Every YearSubmit Comment
It was recently reported that director Catherine Hardwicke has not been resigned for new installments of the "Twilight" franchise. Instead, Summit Entertainment is currently negotiating with Chris Weitz (American Pie, The Golden Compass) to take over. In addition, the goal is to shoot the second and third films back-to-back.

Now, Bloody-Disgusting has learned that the script for "New Moon," the second film, has already been turned into Summit. So, the studio is now hoping that they can sign a director as soon as possible, in order to get the new movie into theaters.

The idea is to release these films Saw-style, one each year. So expect "New Moon" in 2009, "Eclipse" in 2010, and "Breaking Dawn" in 2011. Since there are only four books, the franchise will probably end there.

"Twilight" was a big box office success and Summit is desperately trying to rush things along while fans are still eager to see Bella and Edward on the big screen.

With such tight deadlines, does this franchise have any potential to ever be good?

Tight dealines donīt matter, this franchise may be successful but lacks any possibility of delivering quality. Itīs based on sh*tty and badly written books featuring a corny and idiotic vision of the vampire myth, which is already severely outdated. Its success derives from its emo vibe that sweeps teen girls of her feet, giving them a 21st Century Prince Charming to replace real life stupid boys as a romantic figure. Come on, a vampire falling in love with a human makes as much sense as me falling in love with the hamburger Iīm about to have for lunch! Check out "30 days of night" for a kickass screen representation of vampires, and forget this emo sh*t.

Not unless they change the actors, overall storyline, and characters.

I liked 30 Days of Nights for the simple fact the Vampires seem to mesh well with the Vamps of Blade. And while the Twilight books are crap, the effette vampire is not a novel idea. Dracula back in the 30's was often portrayed as a Cassanova and seducer, rather than a bloodsucking monster. It has little connection at all to the 'emo' scene though the two do possess a modern confluence. In fact, Blade was a vampire of sorts who had an implied love interest with a bitten but cured human woman. At the very least, Vampires can keep human woman as sex slaves or familiars. The comparison to eating a hamburger isn't proper though, unless you f*ck your McDonalds, or perhaps you took the phrase 'beat your meat' a little too literal. Humans, especially human women, can offer more than a quick one-time meal. Never mind that Vampires are often portrayed as very wasteful. Blood to them should be a highly prized commodity, wherein a vamp would keep human prisoners for a lengthy time so as to fully deplete them of blood. Blood is also replenished via the marrow, so a dead human makes blood no more. Besides, what will vamps do when everyone is either a vampire or dead? Feed off each other? But that's cannibalism. Why not just do that now? Vampires are stupid, illogical source material, the first Blade film aside.

So the fourth book will see film treatment by 2011 which means this bitch better get cracking on #5 so the film will coincide with the Mayan calendar end of days theory of 2012. It all makes sense now! pesky mayans...

Ok. Some people that have left a comment don't know what they are talkin about. Twilight is amazing to me maybe not to you and I think they need to make the movies...now! I also think that Stephenie needs to hurry in write Midnight Sun and everyone needs to shut up and mind their own bisiness. If you don't like Twilight...don't read about it or worry about what is going on. SO GET A LIFE!
