"The Dark Knight" Score Now Eligible for Oscar

"The Dark Knight" Score Now Eligible for OscarSubmit Comment
About a month ago, the score for "The Dark Knight" has been disqualified by the executive committee of the Academy music branch. Sources inside the committee said that the big issue was the fact that five names were listed as composers on the music cue sheet, the official studio document that specifies every piece of music in the film.

Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard and the other three individuals -- music editor Alex Gibson, ambient music designer Mel Wesson and composer Lorne Balfe -- reportedly signed an affidavit stating that the score was primarily the work of Zimmer and Howard. But that apparently wasn't enough.

Now, the same committee has decided to reverse their decision, declaring that Zimmer and Howard were responsible for the score's authorship.

Neither nomination ballots nor lists of eligible scores had been distributed so there is no impact on the actual voting process.

Im glad it can be nominated, but it won't win. Curious Case's score is much better than TDK's...

Too generic a score to really win on any other merit aside from association with the film of the same name, and of course dear old Heath.

It doesn't matter, meanmonkey. It'll be nominated and that's all that matters. And by the way, minkowski, go here and just listen for a minute or two. Then do yourself a favor and go to the doctor to check out your hearing problem.

This is great news. It's his best work since The Lion King. And Newton Howard is just constantly making great musical scores, see King Kong.

Wow, clever attempt to ensnare me into your little 'joke'. Either you wanted me to say 'here where' or you simply do not know how to compose a thought properly. Or did you mean to type 'go HEAR'? See I just don;t know. But I have the score, and I don't think it is that great. Anyone who thinks it is a fantastic score is either ignorant of what is truly fine film musi,c or merely assumes that because the score is the Dark Knight's soundtrack, the music MUST rock. I could barely hear the music within the film anyway, and I possess excellent hearing. Something subdued, restrained and not very dramatic or heroic. I just don't care for it at all.
