As promised, the full-length trailer for the upcoming "Friday the 13th" remake has been released. It features loads of new footage and lots of young people for Jason Voorhees to kill.

Returning to the story that started it all, this retelling of the original "Friday the 13th" heads back to summer camp where a mysterious killer is systematically slaughtering the teenage camp counselors.

The new movie is directed by Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Pathfinder) and is scheduled to appear in theaters on February 13th, 2009.

Does a story this simple deserve a remake? Used to be, you'd get a remake to tell the story better, or improve the visuals. Or perhaps impart a more modern morality tale. Now, Hollywood retreads any film cheap enough to make with half-naked teen unknowns and gallons of guts and blood.

I must say it looks ok but im not gonna keep my hopes up...i want it to be good like some of the other remakes like amityville horror with ryan reynolds or hills have eyes but i just dont wanna go and leave pissed like i have so many horror films. Hoping for the best but i really dont know how good its gonna be. Just dont want them to kill a classic...

How can anyone possibly be excited about this? Great job, Michael Bay... you really have a knack for contributing to original material.

I just went to a 35mm screening of the original and man was it a cheesy fun time...It's a classic...yeah...it is...BUT...it IS kinda lame...especially the rushed ending to have a 'twist' that wasn't set up in any way until the final 10 minutes because they wanted to have a semi-famous person get her head chopped off at the end...I can live through the remake...I wont be laughing nearly as hard as I was at the screening...when Kevin Bacon gets his love scene we started singing Footloose...a classic YES...Masterpiece? No way...

I have no real hopes over this movie but one thing in the trailer - Jason taking a wind up before swinging his machete at the girl scampering away backwards might be worth the price of admission.

This has nothing going for it except the release date and after that it'll be forgotten. Just another movie of the week. At least this February will be playing some of the best movies of 2008 for the Oscar race.

After watching that trailer i feel like i've seen the whole movie. Who thought it was a good idea to show the basics of how everyone dies?

This is a series that it doesn't really matter if they made a relaunch...I mean come on, they already made Jason "Takes Manhattan" "Jason in Space"...the Muppets did the same thing for Christ sakes!! What would have been next if they hadn't done a relaunch? The Great Jason Caper?? So really, this relaunch is probably most justified. If people could make horror movies be good through all the sequels then we never would need a relaunch because they could just go on, and on, and on....like Friends or Seinfeld. I'm stoked for this movie. Good bloody fun. (Not the British "bloody"..but rather actual human blood.)
