George Lucas Serious About "Indiana Jones 5"

George Lucas Serious About "Indiana Jones 5"Submit Comment
George Lucas presented at the American Cinematheque, where ComingSoon was able to ask him a few questions about the next "Indiana Jones" movie and his plan to convert the classic "Star Wars" films to 3-D.

First, Lucas confirmed that he is very serious about making a fifth "Indiana Jones" movie. "Yes - we're looking for a MacGuffin, which is an object that he goes after. They're very hard to come by!," he explained.

Regarding whether the entire family returns depends on what the MacGuffin will be. "It really depends on what it is Indy goes looking for and then how the story falls out of that, and then how convenient or inconvenient to have the group there."

Previously, it was announced that Lucas would convert all six of his "Star Wars" films to the 3-D format. Lucas confirmed that he is still pushing forward with that plan. "Oh yeah," he said. "The technology is very difficult. It exists - it's just extremely expensive, and so what we're trying to do is figure out a more practical way of pulling it off."

Both those things would be sweet (ignoring Lucas' need for more money) especially Indy 5! Nothing against the awesome Harrison Ford, but hurry up he isnt gettin any younger!! I want him to be in the next one!!!!

This guy has nothing! All the news today have been about nothing but remakes and now this article. Lame.

Indiana Jones and the Curse of the Steaming Pile of sh*t

If they keep pushing this without a concrete idea, they can call the next installment "Indiana Jones and the Grave of Doom". George Lucas has zero imagination. His mind is filled with derivatives of sh*t he read as a child like sci-fi pulp. After he birthed his one good set of films, essentially exhausting that store of acc*mulated ideas, he no longer had anything to offer of his own. He is spent. Give the writing to someone else Lucas. you are done. Ride Star Wars to death until even you die.

nice word. i'm more excited about the star wars movies.

80 years from now I am CERTAIN George Lucas will look like Darth Vader...there's a reason why he walks around with that sh*tfaced smuggy grin...it's because he knows how to live forever so he's looking on all his detractors like people who are already dead. MacGuffin? Atlantis, Pompei, how hard is it to find an interesting one? Or just create one from scratch. Christ...he has no idea how much his imagination has faded. But I liked Indy 4 f*ck you guys haha ;>

That's funny because I'm serious about Lucas being washed up. He needs to let Steven control Indy and leave Star Wars alone. Clone Wars was his latest trash posing as quality. If the series can't move forward, let's stop right now. Enough damage has been done to the franchise. Indy has been lost in nostalgia, so sad.

"The Macguffin, that's what we're looking for! So hard to come by! I'm creatively bankrupt!"

While the disappointment in Indy 4 has led many to denote it as absolute crap, it was an enjoyable flick, just not up to the previous three's caliber. If Lucas REALLY is serious about and Indy 5 he needs to get back to the history books and stop calling Tom Cruise for plot advice. And he should bust his ass in doing so, or we'll have to wait for cloning technology to allow us to resurrect Harrison Ford.

Serious, eh? Then why did you make Indy 4 such a complete joke you rotten bastard? No, I don't want another Indy film. You've done enough damage.

How's this for a Macguffin..hell I'll give you 3 for free! Lucas' lost sanity, Ford's dignity and fond memories of my childhood heroes.

I disagree- but DAMN that was funny.

Stop these power hungry mad men please, before they destroy these once beloved franchises. Oh wait, too late.
