"Punisher 2" Director Considered for "Jonah Hex"

"Punisher 2" Director Considered for "Jonah Hex"Submit Comment
The "Jonah Hex" drama continues. It all started with Thomas Jane asking to star in "Jonah Hex," but directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank) rejected him in favor of attracting Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men). Later, Brolin stated that he wouldn't put his career in the hands of Neveldine and Taylor, which many assume caused the studio to drop the directors in order to keep Brolin.

Now, LatinoReview is reporting that Lexi Alexander (Punisher: War Zone) has been sent the script for "Hex," to see if she would be interested in directing it. The site caught up with her to ask whether she likes the script.

"I do," she said. "I like it even more that Mr. Josh Brolin is still attached. Who knows if he'll stay, but it's more exciting than I thought. You get a story like this you think, 'Oh God, I'm going to be doing the same thing over and over again.' But it's really, really interesting."

She added: "I would change some things in the script, but you know. It's not there yet. I'm sure there's many, many directors up for the same thing."

Do you think Lexi is a better choices than Neveldine and Taylor?

She isn't any more of a solid directing choice than Neveldine and Taylor- if Brolin settles on her, he might as bloody well go back to the ADD duo.

No female directors

Unless it's Katherine Bigelow...that woman KNOWS how to kick ass. I just think Lexi is too green and we definitely need to check out Punisher War Zone before handing her another comic property- but she's modest, she knows her place, and realizes all she has right now is a chance to read the script. I like her more and more each time I hear her speak.

"No female directors" No kidding. Brolin looks the part, and has the talent, but the Nevedine script by the guys that made Crash was rejected viciously out of hand by Brolin. Brolin called it 'awful'. Crank was poorly written. fast editing, senseless scenes, stupid concept, even if I admit it was entertaining. So Neveldine, who hasn't written or directed anything anything, leaving is a good move. He hasn;t made one film, hardly any films at all, with any quality. Alexander though has made few movies, even though a few such as Johnny Flynton are not bad. She just hasn't had the experience. That and the new Punisher movie looks low budget with mediocre directing and a lackluster script. Have to wait to see if Lexi can handle the comic book action genre. And without intended sexism, men with their rampant testoterone typically make the most kick ass action flicks. I expect Hex to look and feel like War Zone, with a sub par script and a good lead with Brolin. Hopefully, he will have more pull than some of the suits, and maybe call for a proven director.

Katherine Bigelow? LOL. god she sucks. Her one decent film Point Break, and two films that reeked: Strange Days and Blue Steel, not to mention K-19, a film that moved as quickly as a dead man's bowels. Hurt Locker was good, I guess, but that's it. She's a gamble. Her career has slowed and she's had more than a few horrible films. I wouldn't have Bigelow touch a ham sandwich, much less a film.

Man...You're going to eat your words about Bigelow when the Hurt Locker comes out. That movie is INTENSE...
