James Cameron Discusses "Avatar" TrailerPosted: December 3rd, 2008 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
MarketSaw had a brief conversation with director James Cameron (Titanic, Terminator) about when fans can expect to see the first teaser trailer for his upcoming "Avatar" movie.
Cameron revealed that he has a few lengthy scenes from various parts of the film completed, but does not have enough finished material to put together a good teaser.
His goal is to have the teaser appear in front of a 3-D movie during Spring/Summer 2009. He has yet to speak to 20th Century Fox about the exact date, but has mentioned that "Monsters vs. Aliens" could be a possible choice. "Monsters" is scheduled to appear in theaters on March 27th, 2009.
Do you think the teaser can live up to the hype around this movie?

So did Terminator and True Lies...remember it's not the synopsis, it's the director that will make this cool and mind blowing. Cameron isn't Paul WS Anderson or some chump- this is THE MAN that launched and perfected digital filmmaking while also being it's leader. He'll always have my respect- because he doesnt produce crap- acknowledges crap- and if that makes him a swarmy asshole then good for him. He's better- he knows it- and simply doesnt give a fuck about Hollywood gimmickery.

I'm sure "A group of mercenaries and a cyborg run into flesh eating aliens and can't get off the planet".... sounded pretty lame 20 years ago 2....again- it's the man- not the synopsis. We are sorely missing James Cameron.

"Cameron isn't Paul WS Anderson or some chump" Massive understatement. for the first time in a long time, I'm underwhelmed. Cameron is better by far than most. The only thing about his handling of Avatar is his total lack of release material. Any frame releases? Nope. Snippets, concept art, anything? Nope. He must know this film is damned good. or else he'd do a little pre-hyping. He isn't even interested in a trailer until next year. Says he's confident, even if he has to leave the fans in the cold. I've enjoyed massively every film he's made, save Titanic. He rocks.

He's also from a different school of filmmaking altogether and really could not give a shit about the internet geek lust for constant updates...he's old school- "It';s out when it's out"...Cameron is one of the few who won't let a pre screening with a bunch of janitors telling him how to make a movie...Cameron can't make a film- he has to blow your mind...he hasn't missed the mark yet. So I'm glad he's not giving in to the fickle masses...all you need is one tool to say, "That looks like crap" and a bunch of other cunts follow behind and join the bandwagon to crap on a guy they could only dream to be as successful and talented as...so fuck pre screening- to hell with screenshots...the man will give you something when HE'S ready...and that's the way it should be...Look at how poor Lexi Alexander let her audience be so involved with updates- and they turned on her...and then the freaks wonder why she doesn't blog about the punisher anymore after all those tools started rumours she was fired because they were 'iffy' about screenshots and seeing the Punisher spinning on a chandelier...Stay quiet Cameron.
he never did any pre hyping for ANY of his films really- His name was enough to bring in the crowds.

Fuck, I just wanna see Cameron get out of the ocean and behind the camera again. I think he went a little crazy after Titanic, even obsessed about it. For the love of god his wife ended up leaving him. Im glad he hasnt commited suicide or strapped himself to the ship's hull in protest of his love for the vessel. Lets see what he's got after 10 years.
