More Info on David Fincher's Chef ProjectPosted: December 1st, 2008 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
About a week ago, it was announced that David Fincher (Fight Club, Zodiac) would be directing a Keanu Reeves (The Matrix) movie about a chef. That's all that was known at the time, but now, /Film received a scoop with a bit more information.
Apparently, the untitled project is a screenplay by Steven Knight, the man behind scripts for such films as "Amazing Grace," "Eastern Promises" and the upcoming Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island."
The new film is set up at Paramount and will revolve around a Michelin-level chef who tries to make a comeback from major personal issues. He gathers his old friends together as his "dream team" and ends up falling in love with the newest member of the group.

He needs to stick with darker, more offhand material. That is where he excels. A film about a lovelorn chef is really a waste of the man's talent. One of the few awesome directors, and this is his latest project? Wtf.

I'm gonna make food... dark food...with dark gravy, dark beans, and dark chocolate for dessert. It'll be served on dark plates, with dark utensils, in a room with dim lights and a brooding atmosphere...I kinda want Fincher to take a break after all that Button press and nonsense (because you know there's so much more on the way anyhow). I don't want him to go insane in a Coppola moment, and I don't want to be annoyed by the sound of his name...Im almost at the point where I'm groaning at his overexposure...and that's bad because that usually marks the crossing point where fanboys turn on you.
