Van Damme Says "No" to Stallone's Film

Van Damme Says "No" to StalloneSubmit Comment
We recently reported that Sylvester Stallone is writing, directing and starring in a movie called "The Expandables." His goal is to gather as many Hollywood tough guys as possible, which is why he has already signed Jason Statham, Jet Li and himself. Then Stallone announced that he was also in talks with Dolph Lundgren, his "Rocky IV" co-star.

That news made people question whether Lundgren is still one of today's tough guys and what about Jeann-Claude Van Damme?

Van Damme has recently enjoyed success with "JCVD," which was considered one of the better films at the Toronto Film Festival and big surprise for Van Damme fans. It soon became clear that he was looking to get back to some serious acting and stop pumping out straight-to-DVD movies.

Soon after, Van Damme announced that he will have a part in a new "Universal Soldier" movie, which is sure to be direct-to-video. Furthermore, Moviehole is reporting that he turned down Stallone to take part in his "Expandables" film, which is why Sly went to Lundgren.

Director Sheldon Lettich (Lionheart, Double Impact) who is a personal friend of Van-Damme, posted the following on his fansite [via AITH]: "Apparently, Sly was pissed too. Sly made the offer personally. They spoke on the phone for a half hour or so. JC apparently gave Sly the explanation about following a new and different career path for himself now."

Do you think Van Damme should have accepted Stallone's offer?

Dumb ass, this movie will be the big, action career jump start that people want to see you in, and everyone will see it, even if we have to watch it with the Dolph. You would have been better and the fans would have supported you after JCVD. After all, if you kick well we will come.

Of course he should have accepted the role. This JCVD, as far as I understand it, is a satire of the man's career. He's not a real actor, no matter how much he wants to believe he is. Besides, a little time in the spot-light wouldn't hurt.

He must be busy being sized for some new hand sewn banana hammock underwear.

The Expendables is on my must see list. I have no idea why- but seeing that cast all in one movie (even if it has the plot of Half Past Dead 4) is extremely interesting and frankly, makes me giddy like a school girl.

Hello...what about Chuck Norris?!

How could Stallone NOT think of Chuck Norris? The thought never even crossed my mind I'm ashamed to say...but Norris is the only face on T shirts these days...jealousy maybe? haha
