"Avatar" Concept Art RevealedSubmit Comment
Thanks to MarketSaw, we now have five concept art pics of Na'vi from the upcoming James Cameron-directed 3D "Avatar" film. Check them out by clicking on the pictures below. [via /Film]

"Avatar" tells the story of a paraplegic war veteran named Jake, who is summoned to a planet in order to help exploit the planet's resources. The planet is inhabited by a primitive alien race called the Na'vi. Humans are able to create Avatars, genetically engineered copies of the aliens, that they are able to control. Jake unexceptionally falls in love with one of the alien creatures.

The film is rumored to have a $200 million budget, has been in development for over ten years and uses cameras specially designed and created by Cameron and his team. "Avatar" is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18th, 2009.

Cameron's prodigal return to the screen had better be a good one. I still think he needs to tackle a historical epic story, such as Hannibal Barca or Nebuchadnezzar

prodigal implies wasteful. Cameron's last 11 years haven't exposed him as the wasteful type. he's done more in those 11 years than 50 regular joe's in 20. how many underwater doc*mentaries have you made? None you say? He hasn't made another fictional blockbuster epic, no, but just because he hasn't fulfilled your shallow expectations doesn't mean the man hasn't been busier than hell.

Listen- say what you want about Cameron- but know that this is the man who has given birth to MOST if not all digital filmmaking. This man broke the technology, this man created it, and he laid the blueprint for all other lameass filmmakers to follow and ruin. He'll be known for the birth of modern filmmaking and his advancements in camera technology over any film or doc*mentary he's done. The man is a modern day Edison- be glad he's in the film industry- that he's even bothering to come back. Watch a Cameron sci-fi or action flick over sci-fi from the last ten years...True Lies in 1994 looks more convincing than the Live Free Die Hard crap of today...WE ARE SORELY MISSING JAMES CAMERON.
