"Wolverine" Sets Up a Deadpool Spin-Off

"Wolverine" Sets Up a Deadpool Spin-OffSubmit Comment
MTV News had a chance to speak to 20th Century Fox's Jeff Katz who talked briefly about the upcoming "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and a possible Deadpool spin-off.

"The film nicely tees [Deadpool] off for his own spin-off film," said Katz, who raved about Ryan Reynolds' portrayal of the wise-cracking mercenary. In Marvel's comic book universe, Wade Wilson (aka Deadpool) is a product of the same "Weapon X" experiments that Wolverine was subjected to by the Canadian government, but the experiments left him disfigured and mentally unstable.

This is not the first time we are hearing about how great Reynolds is in the movie and that a Deadpool film could be in the character's future. 20th Century Fox Chairman Tom Rothman has also previously gone on record talking about just that. And in addition to a potential Deadpool movie, two more X-Men films are currently in the works, "X-Men Origins: Magneto" and "X-Men: First Class."

Would you rather see a movie based on Magneto or Deadpool?

Based on his Hannibal King in Blade III (the only good thing about the film) I'd say Deadpool could be a big springboard for Reynolds' career. I hope Marvel pulls it off and draws heavily from Joe Casey's run which was brilliant and consistently lol funny.

Deadpool's awesome. I first saw him in Marvel Ultimate Alliance and I have been hoping for a Deadpool movie since. I'll buy a ticket Fox.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D that's all there is to say but then again...if it is something that Fox "likes" then that scares me to think it will bomb

I think they would have to get out Magneto's film first before god forbid something happened to Sir Ian. But a Deadpool movie would be great if done right. Not in the same vein as X-Men was filmed, but a more of center skewed filming style to match the erratic brain of DP. Reynolds was always a better Deadpool than he would have been as Flash. Fits his acting style better. And since Deadpool's not so much a mainstream character like Wolverine or Magneto, this would be a great opportunity for the movie to be truly geared to the fans. Don't alter the delivery to reel in mainstream cash.
