Trey Parker Talks "South Park 2"

Trey Parker Talks "South Park 2"Submit Comment
"South Park" co-creator Trey Parker chatted with LA Times to reveal that when the long-running series finally comes to an end, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman will go out in a second big screen "South Park" film.

"We talked about maybe some day doing a movie to sort of end it all, and that seems like the best idea," Parker said. "That's been a big thought to do the last show as a movie."

But Parker says they wouldn't consider making something for the big screen unless they had a really stellar idea. They had such an idea a couple years ago, but decided to use it for a series of episodes instead of holding it back for a motion picture.

"We came up with this pretty good idea for a movie, and then of course what happened was we got in the middle of a 'South Park' run, and were completely out of ideas," Parker recalls. "And we were like, well, we've got to use the movie idea. And that became 'Imaginationland.'"

"Imaginationland" was the three-part story in October 2007 about a group of terrorists plotting to bomb a fictional world, where all man-made, mythical characters live -- including Super Mario, Luke Skywalker and Strawberry Shortcake.

And if you're worried that "South Park" could be coming to an end. Don't be. The series has been on air for more than a decade and both Parker and co-creator Matt Stone are signed on to continue producing episodes until 2011, with an option to resign.

Is it a good idea to make the final "South Park" episode a feature film?

Hell yeah! South Park: Bigger, Longer , Uncut is one of my favorite movies. I hope they make a movie in between though too.

I think it's a stellar idea, but hopefully the next movie will be in the spirit of season 1 through season 10 and not the sh*tty episodes they're currently putting out. Turning the "Imaginationland" story into a feature film would have sucked ass and come nowhere close to the grandeur of "Bigger, Longer & Uncut". Parker and Stone are visionaries. I know they can they can write much better material than that, and I think they do, too. They don't need to consider a new movie until they've formulated a far more solid story.

I loved imaginationland: "The results of the terrorists attacking our imagination will be... unimaginable."

Unliek the Simpsons, these guys make their epsiodes funnier the longer it goes on. If they decide to call it quits and make a movie, they will be going out at their higest so yeah i will love to see a 2nd South PArk movie

I'm glad they didn't go with Imaginationland as the movie idea. I didn't think those episodes were that great. Imaginative, but not great.
