Josh Brolin Not Sure About "Jonah Hex"Posted: November 10th, 2008 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Last July, we reported that Warner Bros wanted to bring the DC Comic's Western anti-hero "Jonah Hex" to the big screen and that filmmakers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank) were attached.
Then a year later, a shot of Thomas Jane (Punisher) as Jonah Hex appeared online. Nobody knew where it came from, until Jane came forward to reveal that he and a buddy got together to take some shots of himself in make up as the comic book character. The goal was to pass the pictures along to Warner Bros to be considered for the role.
A few months ago, Neveldine and Taylor made an announcement that they appreciate Jane's effort, but they have someone else in mind. And that someone is Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men). So I guess the story ends there? Not really.
Collider had the chance to chat with Brolin during the "Milk" press junket and asked if he is going to star in the "Jonah Hex" adaptation. "Don’t know yet," he said, adding that he has not even met with the directors yet.
"I think Jonah Hex is a really, really interesting story," continued Brolin. "I think it would be risky also, which I like, and I don't know if it's the thing to do."
Brolin is currently in an amazing position. He has grown up in front of the cameras, but only now is he being recognized for his talent. As a result, it sounds like he is putting lots of pressure on himself to make sure to pick the right roles. And trusting his career to guys that made "Crank" is something he is not sure about.
Do you think the role should be given to Thomas Jane, since he clearly wants it more than Brolin.

GO back to Thomas Jane- stop being a bunch of douches and give the role to the man who campaigned and showed he cared about the character in the first place. He may not be N/T's first choice but for Christ's sakes Jane is still perfect for the part.

Let Jane have it, in the hands of Crank's makers who could expect much of anything good? I want to see Brolin getting his just due and joining that crew would be too much risk for the worse.

I agree with Prevalent. I think Thomas Jane would do well as Jonah Hex. I think you would get a better movie from an actor who was passionate about the script where as Brolin doesn't much care for it.

Honestly I don't understand the stick in N/T's ass. They certainly are not accomplished and should stop hounding after a man who's going through the creative veins of the Coen Brothers and Oliver Stone..."Yeah now that I'm in talks for Oscar- let's go make a movie about a disfigured cowboy being directed by two guys who barely know how to follow the line of axis while shooting an action scene...go for Jane and stop slowing down your production chumps.
