"Heroes" is Having Major Problems

"Heroes" is Having Major ProblemsSubmit Comment
Variety is reporting that "Heroes" co-executive producers Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb have been fired by NBC. The writers/producers have been with the show since its first season and were known to have led the day-to-day production operation under the direction of creator/executive producer Tim Kring.

"Heroes," produced by Universal Media Studios, has struggled in the ratings its third season. It's understood that Alexander and Loeb were let go because of the frustration by NBC's executives with the creative direction of the show.

It is also said that "Heroes" has been grappling with hefty budget overruns this season, that are going well beyond its already sizable $4 million per-episode pricetag.

How much longer do you think "Heroes" will last?

God, I hope not.

If it's in this much trouble financially, simply short cut the season and create TV event films out of it. Anything that keeps it from being cancelled before finishing up its storylines.

The show is trying hard to get back to Season one, even though season 2 wasn't as bad as hardcore fans have made it out to be. No, the problem is that the show doesn't use logic in how thing play out. What might work on a page doesn't work on screen. Matt Parkman for example would get the point better with his abilities and wouldn't be so out of the loop. Granted in real life his conversations would be short or almost none existent. Claire's foster parents wouldn't be as worried about her as they are written due to her ability, yet the show to be made into the typical written rules gets boxed into dumbed down mode way way too often. The other major issue is in the whole theme with time traveling plot lines becoming an every season alternate reality theme that the writers have made watchers of the series feel as if that is what it will always be about, changing one future only to create another the characters must fix, again and again and again. Boring stuff for the couch potato and fan even if at one time the creators and suits felt it would be a never-ending cash cow.

loved the first season. but it started traveling down LOST territory and got too effin confusing. i'm not ready to commit myself that much to the show to try and follow everything that's going on.

I feel bad for Loeb, but that show simply wasn't any good. After seven episodes of it I couldn't take it anymore. Good riddance.

I think that it has gone a little down hill, but not so much for the average viewer, mainly for the hardcore fanatics. I didn't actually get into the show, until my brother turned me on to it, and that was not until the second season. I will admit, after watching the first then the second, the second did go down hill just a bit. However, I do believe that the third season is going to pick up pace, mainly because of the whole good vs. bad heroes thing. That just a story line that is always interesting, good vs. evil. The show is defiantly not going to go off the air, probably actually last at least 5 seasons. that just my take.

"Alexander and Loeb were let go because of the frustration by NBC's executives with the creative direction of the show" but they kept kring on as showrunner....ya, that makes alot of f*cking sense...and season 2 blew giant chunks nbc suits eff up again...blaming the yes men and at least one guy who really wrote good scripts (alexander). loeb was more of the hype master than anything....it was his name that drew people to the first showing at comiccon. its amazing that in hollywood, the buck stops everywhere but at the feet of the guy in charge. season 3 has been uneven, to say the least. and the show has totally lost its heart. if nbc wants to save the show, fire kring...bring in a showrunner that admits to having read comics...let him hire real writers from the comic industry...not some hacks who have written for supes or other franchises...someone like grant morrison or peter milligan...guys who have given their takes on things like xmen, and made them totally different. but nbc wont do this....apparently they have hired, or are talking to mark verheiden....thats a good step....but they are banking on pushing daisies being cancelled in order to get fuller back...would be great, but i dont think he will agree to return
