Back in September, director Brett Ratner (X-Men 3, Rush Hour) revealed that he would love to make a "Guitar Hero" movie, but Activision would not let him. That's a shame, because he was convinced that he would get his way, stating "I have a deal with Activision for their branding."
Well, it turns out that the deal does not go beyond Ratner making commercials for the video game. And while we won't be getting an unnecessary movie, we now have a pretty funny commercial. It features Kobe Bryant, Alex Rodriguez, Michael Phelps and Tony Hawk doing their best impressions of Tom Cruise from "Risky Business." I love how Hawk slides in on a skateboard.
uh huh...Soooo...How come they never got a high school kid to direct it? Usually I defend Ratner, but the whole spot relies on whether or not you find these icons funny while playing Guitar Hero...and we don't. The humour comes from the intro ripping off Risky Business ...and the rest is simply silly crap. All the money these guys have made off of this and they rent a camera crame, dolly...any other convention besides a handheld shoulder cam?

They already did this with the 2 American Idol David's last year.
