Man Gets Two Years in Prison for Film Piracy

Man Gets Two Years in Prison for Film PiracySubmit Comment
Michael Logan, a Maryland man who pled guilty to illegally recording two films (28 Weeks Later, Enchanted) in a Washington, DC theater, was sentenced Tuesday to almost two years (21 months) in a federal prison.

The MPAA says forensic analysis indicates Logan could be responsible for illegally recording more than 100 films from January 2006 to January 2008 in four states and the District of Columbia.

"This sentence should serve as a reminder to would-be camcorder thieves that they will in fact be prosecuted and can face serious consequences for engaging in this illegally activity," said MPAA executive vp John Malcolm.

Do you think that recording two movies deserves a penalty of two years in prison?

Too bad. If only he was a celebrity, then he could have gotten off.

did he upload or try to sell copies? shoot, the movie companies have only themselves to blame...its time for them to realize that the cost of going to the theater is getting out of reach for many people...and they should be releasing first run movies straight to streaming or download...so they got this guy, and still, little asian dudes are sitting in some theater taping much better movies...now i know why an american carol didnt get pirated...this guy was the one uploading all the sh*t movies

Really they ought to be hounding the post production workers...because we probably just trash-binned this guy's low quality tapes for the official dvd screener.

he had it coming people are getting away with it to much and it dose more damage than you think. Maybe he shouldn't have gotten jail time but a $500 thousand dollar fine. Jail is for people who do terrible things.
