On November 4th, DC Comics will release "The Joker," a 128-page hardcover original graphic novel, which reunites Brian Azzarello with Lee Bermejo, the team behind "Lex Luthor: Man of Steel." Azzarello calls "The Joker" "the most violent thing I've ever written."

Plot: After yet another stint in Arkham Asylum, The Joker finds "his city" divided among mobsters and costumed villains. Not content to settle for a piece of the pie, The Joker vows to take back the whole damn enchilada by any means necessary. Look for appearances by a slew of Gotham’s most wanted, including gritty takes on Two-Face, Riddler, Killer Croc, Penguin, Harley Quinn and even Batman! Not since THE KILLING JOKE have you seen such a powerful tale of The Joker – you won’t want to miss this one!

Newsarama had a chance to speak with Azzarello, who revealed that Batman is in the new comic book but everything is seen through the eyes of The Joker. "[Batman is] there—he's a part of Gotham; he's everywhere," said Azzarello. "You don't see Batman, but he's on every page."

There have already been talks of a "Joker" spin-off film. Does this comic get you more excited about the idea of a Batman film that focuses on the villain?

Very interesting... although for me commercial comics have declined greatly for sometime. Too many forced hack jobs from hacks hired & hyped up by corporate suits looking at stock numbers. If this is any where near where the Killing Joke was on it's release, I'd be shocked but entertained. We are talking Alan Moore here after all, bar none the best writer in comics. The same writer who wrote the Citizen Kane of comics, Watchmen. Yeah big order here.

The whole look of this is very tantaluzing...it's like a mix of "Arkham Asylum: Serious House On Serious Earth" and "The Killing Joke." This will definitly be on my to-buy list!

Something tells me this will be good but not great. I get the feelings it's going to play off of Ledger the momentum of Dark Knight. That being said I pre-ordered it..I'm a sucker that way. :)
