Gerard Butler Punches Photographer

Gerard Butler (300) is being investigated for an alleged attack on a photographer, a Los Angeles police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

In the latest in a series of clashes between celebrities and paparazzi in Los Angeles, a photographer filed a police report accusing Butler of punching him several times in the face in a scuffle early on Tuesday morning, said LAPD spokeswoman Ana Aguirre.

Investigators plan to contact Butler over the report, which names him as a suspect for misdemeanor battery, Aguirre said. Butler's attorney could not be reached for comment.

Celebrity website TMZ reported that the photographer, who was not named, had been tailing Butler in his car after the actor left a bar in Los Angeles. The photographer said Butler later got out of the car and threw three or four punches at him, which resulted in a hospital visit for stitches to his lip.

Last month, rap star Kanye West was arrested following a scuffle with photographers at a Los Angeles airport but prosecutors declined to file felony charges against him.

Actors Keanu Reeves and Pierce Brosnan have also been accused of attacking photographers in the last two years but were not criminally prosecuted.

Honestly i think these f*ckin paparazzi and paparazzo deserve to be beaten up, they invade actors privacy, they say they have every righ t to do that sh*t. and the celebritys get the bad rap. Soon the paparazzi will be breaking into actors house taking phots of them sleeping and puttiing it on magazines

Most, if not all, paparazzi are called in my the agents, Studios and or friends/family etc of the celebrity in question, if not be the celebrity themselves. Is it annoying if one thinks about being constantly followed by strangers and then be photographed by them, yeah.? But then again these people chose to be in the lime light even if I, and most of you, know they know what's up regardless. They like the attention if not be like Sade, do you ever hear about her? No, because they can control that mess.

I fail to see how being following/stalking/tailing while snapping dozens of photos of an unwilling subject is not classified as a form of assault...Why do they have the right? Because the people are famous right? Well they get paid to be in the movies that build their fame- it's a business where their image costs producers money...so if these ratz want to be seen as credible-which they aren't- they should start paying these celebrities for pictures...as it's all the same business. Has anyone actually, truly studied the law regarding who is right or wrong in these matters? Most of us feel it's wrong- so for God's sake why do we let them get way with it?
