Official "Captain America" Plot SynopsisSubmit Comment
ProductionWeekly [via FilmSchoolRejects] has provided the plot synopsis for the upcoming "The First Avenger: Captain America" film, which places the hero right in the middle of WWII.

Plot: "Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment... Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the "Super-Soldier Serum" and bombarded by "vita-rays." Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and leader of the Avengers."

Fans that went out to see "Iron Man" caught a glimpse of what is to become Captain America's shield. Current rumors state that it was Tony Stark's father created it and through out the next few Marvel films, we will see everything unfold. Check out "The First Avenger: Captain America" in theaters on May 6th, 2011.

This seems more like a Guy Pierce role to me. Also, wasn't the depression in the 30's and Nazis in the early 40's meaning he'd be like 10 years old? Doesn't leave too much room for Red Skull who I HOPE is the villain in this.

so if i want to be like captain america i should take steroids too....

Matthew McConaughey is the actor for Captain America, case closed. If they get him a competent director and a cinematography that can make the past and battle scenes look like Private Ryan, were good.

how the hell are going to incorporate this into the Avengers of the new millenium if hes a hero in the 30s?

I agree with Johnny Neat... McConaughey is the man for this film, even though i don't like him as an actor but I could see him as Captain America.

"Fans that went out to see "Iron Man" caught a glimpse of what is to become Captain America's shield" - we did? Did i miss something here? I remember reading something about a cut scene in Hulk where Banner comes across Cap frozen in ice (ala the comics method of catapulting him into current day) but since Banner was in the arctic to commit suicide and free himself of the Hulk, it was deemed too dark and remanded to dvd.

please, leave Matthew McConaughey out of this. There's a lot to Captain America besides blonde hair and muscles.

i honestly think that paul walker would make a good captain america. he's skinny but still has muscles, i think hes that only man 4 the job. and i dont have a clue what they are talking about with the shield in the iron man film. the only things ive seen in the films tying together are the scene after the ironman credits with sam. jackson as nick fury and the end of incredible hulk in the scene with tony stark and general ross.
