Police say they have arrested Kanye West at Los Angeles International Airport on suspicion of vandalism after an altercation with a photographer. An airport spokesman says police also arrested West's bodyguard shortly before 8 am on Thursday.
Airport spokesman Marshall Lowe says early reports are that West got into an altercation with a commercial photographer and a camera valued at more than $10,000 was broken.
TMZ caught all the action on tape and were actually involved in the dispute. The site says that Kanye West (hooded sweatshirt) and his bodyguard/manager (in the red) grabbed a photographer's camera. The two men then smashed the camera and its lighting component on the ground.
A TMZ person then approached Kanye, but when his bodyguard realized that TMZ was still rolling, he tried to grab that camera as well. The bodyguard ended up ripping off the mic and the viewfinder.
When police finally came, they stopped West and his bodyguard from boarding the plane and instead interrogated them with the original photographer and the TMZ person. Here is where it got really crazy:
During questioning, a police officer asked the TMZ person if he had the chance to videotape what happened. The answer was yes and that answer caused Kanye to lunge toward him, screaming "Give me the f*cking videotape." The police had to restrain him.
The end result is that Kanye West and his bodyguard were both arrested for vandalism and are being held on $20,000 bail.
