"TMNT" Sequel will be CGI/Live-Action HybridPosted: September 10th, 2008 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Just recently "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" co-creator Kevin Eastman posted on his website that talks were underway for a new live-action film. The post was quickly removed and then "Turtles" writer Steve Murphy labeled it as "complete nonsense."
So, in order to figure out what's going on, MTV News had the chance to speak to Peter Laird, who is the owner of the property and the co-creator of the characters.
"As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin," said Laird. "We have pretty much decided that the next "TMNT" movie should be what we've been calling a "hybrid" — that is to say, live-action humans and sets combined with very realistic CGI Turtles (and possibly some other CGI characters)."
He went on to explain that the story has yet to be settled on, but his preference would be something that fits into "TMNT" movie continuity in some way. He would also like to see the Shredder be used in some way.
"Given that we have yet to settle on a story for this new hybrid movie, I don't really know which characters will appear in it," he said. "It would be fun to do something with the Shredder, but I am also excited about the possibility of creating some new characters for the movie."
Finally, he mentioned that since Chris Evans and Sarah Michelle Gellar did such a great job voicing Casey and April in the CGI "TMNT" movie, he would love it if they returned for the new "hybrid" version. "I think it would be really cool if we could get them to reprise those roles, but this time 'in the flesh.'"

I don't get why the LIVE action film, excluding sequels, is looked down upon. I felt it was good if a little kiddie. Anyhow this hybrid thing sound interesting but we shall see won't we. I do know the last CGI movie was sadly a bit anticlimactic in it's approach.
