On screen or off?
On screen I would probably say Anthony Hopkins, watching him with other actors can sometimes be awkward with such differing talent levels. Off screen is kind of tough. You have Tom Hanks who can seem to pick and choose projects to both act in and produce. He is good friends with Spielberg, arguably one of the most powerful directors in the business. A few years ago I would have said Tom Cruise, but since his break up with Paramount he has had to revamp what projects he takes (i.e. Tropic Thunder, which I loved!).

You might as well keep Tom Cruise in mind. Getting booted from Paramount didn't stop him apparently. He still is a pretty powerful actor in Hollywood. Gets more attention than his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman does.
Unfortunately Nicole doesn't play in good movies anymore. Tom Cruise fortunately still does. So you can still keep Tom Cruise in mind as one of the dominating actors in Hollywood. Not too big of his fan but nevertheless he still is dominating some how, some way.

One of the best has to be Gerard Butler. He has proven his versatility by playing a variety of parts and his producer in Gamer stated that when Gerry is onscreen, he totally dominates the screen and no one else is noticed.

According to me I guess Johnny Depp in the " Pirates of the Caribbean" series. his Acting is too awesome that I haven't seen any body like that. just to awesome. GREAT WORK IS APPRECIATED EVERY WHERE.
