In your preview of Scanner Darkly, you precicted it would be a 90 million dollar movie. I know so far it has not made much, but is that simply a reflection of it's strange release schedule or do you think it will continue to bomb?

I think it will continue to improve. During the first weekend of release, the film hardly even registered, but after the second weekend, it made it into the top 10 at the box office.
One of the problems is that I made the prediction five months ago and at that time, the film's release date was still uncertain. That early in the game, it is impossible to know just how wide of a release the film will get or how it will be advertised. I think the film deserves better marketing and a wider theatrical release. I noticed that there wasn't too much advertising leading up to the release, but there has been some since. The first 24 minutes of the movie have just become available online in an attempt to entice viewers. You'll be able to check that out on our website in the news section on Friday.
As I said earlier, it is gathering a little momentum. It will clearly not make it to the $90 million mark, but I think it has a chance to gain some word of mouth. I'm sure it will do better on DVD.

It is true about how little they are advertising this movie, I personally did not know that it was released already. I have never seen an ad for it on TV or anywhere else. I started watching the 24 minutes of it they had but did not wanted to ruin it for myself. This movie looks interesting but like you said no advertising is killing it.
I actually thought that it was going to be a wide release for sure. It looks very Matrixy, but the more I saw of it, the more it looked like a talky movie rather than a sci-fi thriller. The director is trying something different with that whole cartoon look, and that could be the reason why the studios chickened out and decided to first try to release it on a smaller scale. Give it another weekend, I'm sure it will get a wide release.
