Mine has to be Godzilla. The rain. The lack of consistent size. No atomic breath. The "raptor-esque" babies. Did you ever really feel that it was New York? I didn't. The actors. I'm sorry but, I have never really liked any movie Matthew Broderick has been in. Except for Ferris Bueller and Election. Can't forget Glory either. But, most of his movies stink. Anyhow, Godzilla has to be my biggest letdown. What are some of yours?
I loved Godzilla. Back then, it was awesome. The special effects were better than any other movie. Plus the fact that it was so simple made it fun. When I was craving a bit more, I went to see Jurassic Park.

One of my biggest Let-Downs must be "Not Another Teen Movie". Not that I really expected that much of it, but I expected SOMETHING. The only time I have ever left the cinema during the film. All the jokes are either klichés or just plain stupid. I just plain don't like movies that uses that kind of "dirty words" humor.

ZZZZZZZZ.... Oh, Forgot what I was doing. Supes was a big let-down. Super Boring Returns. Anyone else feel this movie shoulda been a half hour shorter? I just felt that anyone could have been in this movie. I hated Lois. I hated Lex. I hated everything except the effects. The parts with ole Supes were cool but everything in between sucked. I saw this at a Drive-in with Nacho Libre and I just couldn't wait for Nacho to start. No suprises here. Superman sucked. I'm sure I am alone, but I was bored. Even after I thought it ended it went on 20 more minutes. 2 Big let-downs this summer. X-Men III and Supes. If I were a betting man I'd say Pirates will suck, too. It may be just me, but My Super Ex-Girlfriend looks better than Superman. Superman's kid??? Gay!

...It was not that bad, it was long but it kept me up. Eventhough some of the characters were a lil bit lame and boring, the whole movie was Ok. I expected more action though. What about Nacho?

As you can tell I am mostly drnuk when I write these. Nacho Libre was great. I love Jack Black and this was his movie. Totally stupid, 1000% Awesome. Check it out.

I agree about Superman, it was terrible. The plot was so awful, and the whole kid thing was just too Jerry Springer. If it was up to me, I would make it dark, and leave Lex Luthor out of these movies, get some villains like Venom that's in Spider-Man, or Magneto from X-Men. The only power that Luthor has is to make bad jokes non-stop. And I'm dying to see Nacho.

I agree with mickyboldersmack on Lexs' bad jokes and how horrible his character was, but I still insist the movie was not that bad, I actually though it was going to be worse (not a big fan of superman). Brigulon13, I will wait for Nacho to come out on DVD, I will definately watch it. Thanks for your comment.

Yeah, that's a good idea, Superman vs. Venom or Magneto.
I would say that I enjoyed Superman quite a bit on a visceral level. It was close in spirit to the original one and I felt that coming across very frequently. It tried to replicate the romance, the still somwhat grounded action (no super-villains), and the human touches and I thought it succeeded for the most part. I enjoyed it and I enjoyed a lot of its ideas without making myself suffer through it thinking "They should have done this" or "They should have done that."
However, I did not like Brandon Routh or Kate Bosworth. He looked way too much like Superboy not Superman and she looked like his 20-year old girlfriend. It looked like teenagers trying to play grown-ups. He needs to be a bit more manly and she needs to be a bit more world weary. I didn't believe it at all when this girl was getting stressed out. How old was she when she had her kid, 15? There wasn't the same sort of chemistry between them. Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder were light years ahead of them.
The whole "let's turn the plane around and save Superman" part felt like one of those cliched moments in movies where the characters say, "we have to go back and save him, but not call the cops." I know, it's a little different in this case, but it's still a shame the movie has to rely on a plot development like that. The last thing a married couple with a kid should be thinking is "we'll go back into danger and save Superman." A bit too suicidal and its a shame that Superman actually needed the help.
Finally, I'm still not convinced whenever they render humans in CGI. The first Spider-Man looked way too cartoonish and unreal and I feel the same way about Superman in SR. It's too smooth, too perfect, too fluid, just unreal somehow. I think Superman looked more convincing in the original. The effects were not better, they were just more helpful in suspending disbelief.
Overall I liked it, but had my reservations. I don't even understand why people anticipate these types of movies with such glee, thinking it will be the greatest piece of celluloid. When the movie comes out, all the fanboys just flood the boards expressing their disappointment about what was done wrong. Everyone is looking for a new religion to get behind, but summer blockbusters rarely achieve that god-like status people look for.
Spider-Man 2, Batman Begins, and Hulk were all better than Superman Returns. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 and that's my review.

I was a little excited about the new Superman movie, only because Brian Singer was directing it and I loved the first two X-Men Movies. But then I watched it. It kept my attention for the first half but then I realized this was the best it was going to be. It just stank. If my girlfriend wasn't with me I probably would've just walked out. It was ok, for a while, but then it just went downhill, fast. I would give it a 4 out of 10.

The worst let down this year was Oceans 13. i now surely agree that the sequels are mostly duds. Neither shrek3 ,nor spidey 3 and nor oceans were compariable to original hits. Would be looking out for harry potter 5 and see if it can deliver.

My latest biggest let down was Spiderman 3.
I didnt like the total confusion which Sam Raimi got included in this movie. So many villians included that it made the movie utter crap.

This year? TF2, I'm sure there are plenty of worse movies, but compared to the first one, this just didn't live up to expectations. Although GI Joe hasn't come out yet, can't wait to see how Hollywood mangles that part of my childhood;) .
