I wouldn't wanna see brad pitt in a super hero movie, it would take away from the character, making it a movie about Brad Pitt. Simon Pegg would be a good choice a Henry Pym. What about the Vision? or Scarlet Witch? and it would have to be an unknown for thor, not some crappy acting wrestling star.

No Thor at all. No ANT-MAN at all.
That leaves you with:
-Iron Man
-War Machine (clone of Iron Man)
-Hulk
-Captain America
Hulk, as I understand it, is supposed to be a villain anyway in Marvel Ultimates so knows?
I could see how they tie all these together. So that leaves you with Marvel's do-goody equivalent of the Comedian, a green giant with anger issues, and two hunks of tin...
Yeah, I don't think Avengers would work that much, even if Favreau is keeping a close watch on it.

But see Marvel Ultimates isn't the original Avengers. I want to see Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Beast maybe, Ant-Man, Vision, Scarlet Witch.
Thor has to be in it because he was an Avenger, and Hulk has to go on a rampage, making him the first villain that the Super Heroes team up on. Once they do that, they see how well they work together, and thus creating the Avengers. I dont want to see a half assed attempt at making a movie that doesn't stick to the original comics. War machine was barely ever in Avengers, as he worked with Iron Man and by himself.

I didn't make the call.
Put another way, don't shoot the messenger.
That's the way it's headed. They already said they're doing the Ultimates version of the Avengers.

Oh really? Well thats not good.
I guess the Ultimates is more current, so people might relate better, but I still think it would be a way better film if they did the original Avengers.

Even while I don't particularly like Iron Man or the new Hulk that much, what they are trying to do is admirable. But there's one problem...
They're not consistent, stylistically or plotwise! And this goes far beyond them being filmed concurrently- it also has to do with their roots in comics to begin with.
I am fascinated with adaptations (good adaptations), specially comic books and graphic novels as they have amazing versatility, but the directors are only successful by taking liberties and cherrypicking what works. And then, you're still left with events that don't match, because in the comic, the original creators weren't thinking about these things before either.
Do you think Stan Lee actually conceived of the Hulk with foresight of Iron Man in the near future being a crossover character? Of course not. This is what makes comics ugly for me. Too ugly. Too many inconsistencies, "alternate universes", not enough realistic aspect, the escapism is just taken to the extreme.
With a movie, it's even trickier because you have to obey rules you've established in the mundane world of film, not pen and paper. That's why I feel this Avengers movie will ultimately be a disaster, especially with Thor. Plus there's no guarantee they will be able to balance all the talent they have...Marvel may have gotten a few winners this year, but they have never actually strived for the quality of DC & WB's releases.

I think I speak for everyone when I say why don't they just tie in only the Avengers that make sense. Like for example:
Wolverine
Spider-Man
Hulk
Captain America &
Iron Man
I say save the money. You already got most of those orgins and characters established. They already seem realistic enough to tie into one another. So why not work from there?
I can understand if they'd like to TRY and tie their orginal ideas together. But like anybody would think:
"Thor's a God, wouldn't fit too well with reality. Seem kind of cheesey if I may say."
"Ant-Man, I mean are you serious? Can anybody take a Superhero named Ant-Man seriously? I honestly fear he'd be laughed at not just by critics but by the world."
I don't personally know the Ant-Man story or what he does, etc. But just from looking at the costumes and his name, it also sounds cheesey. Maybe someone could shine some light on it and make it seem more realistic as a film. One has to know the story in order to imagine what it would be like in real life.
Anybody up for grabs to correct me please?

Well first of all, Marvel doesn't have the exclusive rights to those two characters. That's why.
And I agree with you, Ant-Man seems to be a really retarded idea. Apparently, his power is to "shrink" himself to infinitesmal sizes, and more good news: Edgar Wright will be adapting HIS film - so it will probably be a comedy. This is bullshit in the making.

All I can say is, wow...Couldn't be any worse...Of course we could be proved wrong, but I'd like to think we're both right about it.
