Just watched what could well be the coolest Comic Book Adation from Japan, Initial D. This is the film where the whole idea for the latest Fast and the Furious movie was taken from, although this is much better than F and F by far.
Based in Japan, the story is about a young school kid who is the fastest drifter on Mount Akina, but he is unrecognised, other than rumours that are flying around, the story is of how he becomes found by street racers and how he beats them all one by one until he becomes "The racing god of Mount Akina".
If you can't abide subtitled films, then you may aswell give this a miss, its all in Cantonese with english subtitles.
Easiy the best driving film i have seen for a long time, all the drifting is actual driving, no blue screens or CGI tricks like most driving movies now, its all actual Japanese stunt drivers.
If you have ever read the comics, it is a very good adaption, all the cars and characters look the same and the storyline is much the same to the first ever issue that was sold.
A must see for racing film fans, and Japanese Anime fans aswell.
