View Full Version : Original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" Sucks
I just watched the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and I just don't see what's so scary about it. It's just crazy camera angles and zoom ins. There are scenes when the girl is just being spoken to and she is going crazy. It's just plain stupid. In addition, the acting is horrible, the music and sound is too loud and obnoxious. This is another example that old movies are not scary, including The Exorcist, they are just not believable (thus not scary).
The scariest movie of all time has to be The Blair Witch Project.

blair witch was a horrible pointless mess with one ONE very brief scary scene where we see whatsername stood against the wall.. i think the music in old movies (loud an obnoxious as it is) is mostly used to put you on edge and generally make you feel uncomfortable.. like in Cape Fear.. i think its much more effective than all the torture p*rn the cinema is filled with at the moment..

I agree about texas chainsaw massacre, tell you the truth, when the sequal came out it i opposed it and was for the original without really seeing it but when i finaly watched the original i couldn't help but laugh... I mean theres like a 10minute scene of leatherface at the end running in circles with his chainsaw. It was insane I thought the remakes were actualy alright for the first time. They basically reinvented the movie

This one goes out to IMLX
The smart money says that when you watched TCSM you were sitting in your living room, with the lights on, with God knows how many other distractions going on deterring from your concentration.
I also would bet that the first time you saw BWP was in a dark theater with a decent sized crowd feeding off of each other's anxiety.
I say this because if you had actually gotten involved in your viewing of TCSM, you would have been drawn into the film's suspense. If I am wrong and you were totally focused on the film and still found it to be as weak as you say, then you must have nerves of steel (which I doubt, as you said that BWP is the scariest movie ever...)
BTW... shaky camcorder footage is not realism, its a crutch for having no real movie to make.
