Know anything about this one? Other than what IMDb says. The premise sounds so cool. Although I was kinda hoping for a Dragonslayer Wizard showdown. Odd choice for Nolan, eh?

It stars Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as rival magicians who's battle for supremacy may lead to murder in turn-of-the-century London. Huge cast includes: Andy Serkis(any input on his role?), Scarlett Johansonn, Michael Caine(awesome), and (lost in her short lived horse-faced fame) Piper Perabo and probaly in an oscar winning role David Bowie. Could this be Oscar 2006 contender? Sounds like a winner. Your preview is helpful but still questions lingering 'bout casting and roles they will play. Please update ASAP. Release date ?

Here is some cast info for The Prestige:

Andy Serkis will play Nikola Tesla's assistent Alley and he will actually act in person as opposed to through animation.

Scarlett Johansson plays Olivia, Rupert Angier's assistant who spies on the competition.

Michael Caine plays Cutter, Angier's ingenieur

and Piper Perabo plays Alfred Borden's wife

I agree that this looks to be one of the most fascinating looking movies of the fall season so far. Possible consideration for Oscars in terms of screenplay or performances, but the subject matter may be too dark and a little unconventional to compete for Best Picture. If it does real well at the box-office, who knows.

Release Date is still October 20th.

Hey guys!
What do you think that Scarlett Johansson (actress) actually is a clone from original person, which has nothing with acting career. That clone was created illegally using stolen biological material. Original person is very nice (not damn sexy), most important - CHRISTIAN young lady!
-------------------------------------------------------
I'll tell you guys more, that clones (it's not only one) made in GERMANY - world leader by manufacturing human's clones. You can not even imaging the scale of the cloning activity. But warning! German state 100% controlling all their clones spreading around the world, they are very accurate with that, they are still NAZI type disciplined and mind controlled clones, so be careful get close with clones you will be controlled as well. Think wise..
Please share any available info about that rumor.
Tnx!

I wasn't impressed with this film at all despite the great previews. I saw the Illusionist (I think that was the name) with Ed Norton and Jennifer Beal before this one. I found The Illusionist to be a much better movie within this genre.

Is that the movie that's loosely based on the life of Harry Houdini? I was thinking I'd like to see it, but never did get there. Guess that's another to add to my want to see list.

I really liked the love story that was woven into The Illusionist as well Clinton. I can't see that I hated The Prestige. I watched it all the way through with my boyfriend and I thought that the psychological aspect of what obsession can do to a person and to those around them was interesting.... The unveiling of twins at the end of the film was just too convenient/not believable to me.

I loved The Prestige, and I thought that the movie in general was great. Great script, great directing. Scarlett Johanson is my favorite actress, and she was beautiful in this movie. I would give the movie 4 out of 5 stars.

I felt that a movie about magic should have kept a few things secret, especially parts which are ridiculous. Overall, it was a very enjoyable movie, with amazing performances.
