This was actually a dark movie, it wasnt marketed that way however. The only character I could stand was Alan Arkin, he rocked as the old grandfather. The little girl was just ok, personally I think it was cruel for her family to enocourage her that she was able to win the beauty pagent. Not that she wasnt cute enough or too fat, it was that those children in the pageants have support from their entire family being completely involved, the only one who truly supported the little girl was the grandfather. I don't think this was a movie worth an oscar nodd however.
