What is the scariest horror film you have ever seen in your life and why did it spook you out that much? :)

Halloween because u never really knew what was going to happen until it happened. Or nightmare on elm street because of the blood.

I always thought the Hellraiser flicks by Clive Barker were terrifying. The special effects were amazing. I think the demon aspect of the film is what scared me so much.

Though Halloween had more appeal. It seemed so real and the concept was too good. I dont think anyone can see this movie alone in the darkness.

A movie called Dark harvest. it was just freaky weird... it is really hard to describe this movie but I have watched a ton of horror films and this was the one that I just do not want to even spend much time thinking of.

I would have to say it is a tie between the Exorcist and 30 Days of Night. Exorcist is only scary if you believe in God, because if you don't you can just shrug it off as make believe and events that couldn't really take place. But if you believe it shows you a very creey situation that could possibly happen. 30 Days of Night wasn't really scary as much as it was gory and shocking. The way the vampires just were so superior and how they toyed with people and made them look helpless was freaky in a different way. It's not the type of movie that keeps you up thinking about it at night but you definitly look twice when you are outside at night walking alone.

Well I think one of the scariest I've seen is Wolf Creek, or maybe Blair Witch just because of the psychological aspect of it in the ending. Lets just say I couldn't go into the woods for a while! Ha. Also, when I was younger, Jeepers Creepers scared the piss out of me.

Absolutely, positively, beyond the shadow of a doubt...
"The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" (1974).
I was seventeen the first time I watched this, and as with most arrogant 17 year-olds, I was under the impression that a movie could not possibly be scary. Wow was I wrong.
The film has an almost unbearable level of SUSPENSE (especially in the first half) and barely a drop of blood in the whole damned thing. It probably added to the impact that at the time I was living in a very rural area, so that only added enhanced the realism of it. Yes, I said realism, I know this because I have seen and been inside of several houses quite similar to the Sawyer family diggs.
If you have never seen it, do yourself a favor. Turn off the lights, hide your cellphone and try not to be freaked out by this one...

I would have to say that the blair witch project was retarded. I found it very annoying just seeing the camera move crazy not seeing anything but a crying face or just trees moving in the darkness. It was gay. My scariest movie would have to go to The original Exorcist movie that freaked me out. I also loved that new one that Sam Raimi did Drag me to hell. Mostly it was the surprise elements that kept me there. it was also good that the story line was solid and didn't leave you with any questions.

I'd have to go with the original Halloween. When I saw it in the theater with my (now ex) wife, it scared the shit out of both of us. When we got home, I took out a big kitchen knife and walked through the house, checking all the closets, under beds, and anywhere else an intruder could potentially be hiding. We slept with the lights on for a week.

Pet Sematary scared the balls offa me as a kid, and though I will be thoroughly mocked for this, I will say Haunting in Connecticut made me just feel uncomfortable the whole way through. I can't even explain it, I just wanted to turn it off.

Martyrs was freaky as hell. I agree. I'm surprised I haven't seen a mention of Mothman Prophecies. I'd put that one high up on the list as well. Plus, it has the baddest ass horror character name ever: Indrid Cold.

For me I would have to say the movie that scared me the most growing up was American Werewolf in London. I was only like 5 or so when I saw it and it gave me nightmares for a month. So bad in fact, I kept seeing the main characters friend (the one he killed that kept getting more and more decayed as the movie went on) leering at me through my bedroom window, while I was awake!! Pretty messed up when you're only 5.
