From the spectacular opening battle scene ... to a final mano-a-mano showdown in the Coliseum, this film is at its best when it's at its bloodiest.

"An exhilarating, sweeping epic that begs to be seen on the largest possible screen."

Well, I thought the movie was interesting, but I'm glad I didn't see it on the large screen. I'm sure I missed some of the effect, but that's okay. I have a squeamish stomach, so I'm glad I didn't see the blood and guts in larger than life form!!

And my favourite character met an unhappy end. I like the actor, whose name is escaping me at the moment, but he has spectacular scars on his face from being attacked outside a pub by someone with a knife. Tommy Flanagan! That's it.

Based on true stories it truely stole the hearts of millions who saw the movie. A true spirit of movie making.

I actually liked this movie and I found it quite well directed, a very well made movie overall with a good plot...

I would have to agree with most everyone. This was an amazing movie to watch. It depicted what life has taught us time and time again, that those in control will try to abuse that control, but in the end you get yours. I was a little disappointed that he maximus had to die but being with his family still was cool.

Awesome movie, with an outstanding plot line. To the very end you follow Maximus on his quest to just get home to his family, and by the final scene you realize that the only true way for him to "really" be home is for his own death. Four Stars all the way on this one!

I really didn't think I was going to like this movie. The whole action, fighting type macho film just really isn't my favorite thing to watch. I did see this in the theatre with my friends who forced me to go. I was very glad they did. This was one of the best films I had ever seen.

I especially liked the scene when Russel is bought to the for the first time to colloseum and the way he unites all the gladiators and kills all the other chariot warriors.

Hot men half naked, fighting bloody matches, constant action - I am so there. :D
