What are your opinions about Alec Baldwin's rantings on a telephone message to his daughter that were recently released? I really feel bad for the child at the heart of the battle between Basinger and Baldwin. The custody war between the two has been going on forever it seems. Baldwin really comes off sounding like a comolete jerk and it makes one feel a bit sorry for Basinger too for having to deal with him in reference to their child.

The thing is, we ALL make stupid mistakes and rant at our kids inappropriately at least once in our lives. For most of us, it stays in the family and isn't broadcast to the world at large. It would suck to be in a position where every little darn thing you do is subject to public scrutiny. Show me the perfect parent who has never been pushed and aggravated by a hormonal teen, and I'll show you someone on heavy medication.

That's an interesting way to put it, but I think you're right. Everyone has said things to their kids that they wish they hadn't, most of the time immediately upon the words crossing their lips. :( I feel very sorry for the little girl. I hope that her spirit wasn't crushed by the words and tone in his voice. I think it's going to take some time to heal those wounds, unfortunately.

I think it would be a lot sooner if she didn't have to hear it repeated on TV and the internet five thousand times a day. How many of us heard similar from our own parents and it didn't leave deepseated scars? The media is blowing it up out of all proportion. I'm not saying he was right, but he's human and we don't know what buttons she was pushing or what she was doing. I've been through that 11/12 year stage with three kids and it's a mistake to think that kids that age don't know how to push parents' buttons and send them off the deep end.
Imagine how you'd feel having to work out your family problems in front of all your neighbours, coworkers, boss, family and millions of people who don't know you. It would suck.

You're right. I don't guess that what I've heard is much worse than my dad said to me when I was a little older than that. And, it would suck having to live out your problems in front of everyone. At times it's great to be a nobody.

I agree. There's not a single parent in the world who hasn't lost their cool at one point or another, but most of us are lucky enough not to have it printed in the local paper and on the news!

I heard a sound byte the other day from Dr. Phil offering to counsel Baldwin and Bassinger. The report stated that Baldwin said he was willing to meet with Dr. Phil but that Bassinger wasn't.

On a lighter note, here are a couple of goofy skits featuring Alec Baldwin's infamous phone message; Alec Baldwin Calls Dora the Explorer (http://www.funnyordie.com/v1/view_video.php?viewkey=d94d292574c38c5d628d&page=&viewtype=&category=), and Alec vs. Pearl (http://www.funnyordie.com/v1/view_video.php?viewkey=3012045cfd75d2600af2). Before you watch the latter, you'll need to watch Will Ferrell's, The Landlord (http://www.funnyordie.com/v1/view_video.php?viewkey=3efbc24c7d2583be6925). I nearly died laughing the first time I saw this! 'Pearl' out takes can be found at the Funny or Die homepage (http://www.funnyordie.com/v1/index.php). Enjoy! :p
